IPL 2024 season’s anticipation is at an all-time high as cricket fans eagerly wait for the crucial clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 22nd March, marking the commencement of another thrilling edition of the tournament.

However, amid the excitement, there are speculations surrounding the venue for the second half of the IPL 2024 season. With the Election Commission of India set to announce the election schedule today, BCCI is contemplating the possibility of relocating the remaining matches to the UAE.

According to The Times of India, BCCI officials are currently in the UAE to assess the feasibility of hosting the latter half of the IPL in Dubai.

“The Election Commission of India will announce the election schedule on Saturday at 3 pm. After that, the BCCI will decide whether IPL matches should be moved to Dubai. Currently, a few top BCCI officials are in Dubai to explore the possibility of organizing the second half of the IPL in Dubai,” sources revealed.

The UAE has previously served as a temporary home for the IPL in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Matches were spread across three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, providing a vibrant backdrop for the cricketing extravaganza.

In preparation for a potential relocation, several IPL franchises have taken precautionary measures by collecting the passports of their players. While the BCCI has maintained that the league will proceed as planned in India, franchises are proactively addressing any potential logistical challenges. Reports also suggest that franchises have gathered player passports as a safeguard against validity issues in case of sudden changes to the tournament’s schedule.
