In a light-hearted moment that had the Wankhede crowd in splits, Rohit Sharma imitated the umpire’s signal for a DRS review after Mumbai Indians successfully reviewed a decision during the first innings of Match 20 in IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7.

Rohit, who came in as an Impact Player, replacing Vignesh Puthur, was seen standing on the sidelines copying the on-field umpire’s signature crossed-arm gesture — a move that quickly went viral among fans and on social media. His playful impersonation showcased not just his presence on the field, but also his trademark sense of humour.

While his form has been patchy this season, scoring just 21 runs across 3 matches, the MI veteran remains a fan favourite. With a career tally of 831 runs against RCB and an excellent record at the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit’s return for the chase could be crucial for Mumbai.

Earlier in the match, RCB posted a commanding 221/5 in their 20 overs. Rajat Patidar led from the front with 64 off 32 balls, while Jitesh Sharma smashed an unbeaten 40 off 19 deliveries. Jasprit Bumrah bowled economically, conceding just 29 off his 4 overs, but Trent Boult was expensive, finishing with 4-0-57-2.

With Rohit walking out to open in front of his home crowd, Mumbai will hope for a strong start in their pursuit of 222.
