The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) is set to kick off with its own version of the El Clasico, as Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings in a grand season opener.

This year has been rather dull for all cricket fans with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic and its adverse effects on the society. There has been no cricket for almost 6 months and the fans are now itching to see their favourite stars take to the pitch for one of the most awaited sports tournaments of the year in IPL.

The two franchises have added substantial new faces to their squads in the auction that took place in December 2019. The build-up to this match was in doubt with the CSK players testing positive for the COVID-19 virus less than 3 weeks ago. Yesterday it was reported that all the squad members are now fit and available for this clash.  The game might be a little rusty as players would take some time to adapt to the fast pace of cricket at this level after being absent for so many months. The English, Australian and West Indian players have had their share of cricket in the last month with the CPL taking place in Caribbean and the tour of Australia, Pakistan and West Indies to the British Islands.

It would rather seem to be a dull affair from afar as the most vibrant aspect of the IPL, which are the fans of course would be missing in the stands. However, the IPL is never short of entertainment with its star players and high quality cricket and so this match is worth being excited for.
