Veteran Indian cricketer MS Dhoni on Saturday, creating a history in T20 cricket became the first wicketkeeper to complete 250 dismissals in the format. He achieved this milestone during the opening match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Dhoni was on 248 heading into the mega opener and skilfully achieved the milestone after completing the dismissals of Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard off Lungi Ngidi.
In his 318- match T20 profession, Dhoni has 250 dismissals,167 catches and 83 stumpings to his title. The another greatest on the list is Kamran Akmal with 238 dismissals and Dinesh Karthik with 214 dismissals.
MS Dhoni who announced his international retirement last month, returned to competitive cricket after 436 days. MS Dhoni was last seen in India’s World Cup semifinal defeat.
MS Dhoni who returned to the game for the first time, after a very long time, looked totally fit and fine for the game. At the toss, Dhoni revealed that he had been going to gyms and taking care of himself during the lockdown.
“Well, you have the liberty during lockdown to spend some time on yourself. Could not do a lot of physical running and all. So I hit the gym as much as possible and maybe look fit,” Dhoni said when asked about the secret behind his strong physique.
Earlier on Saturday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to field first. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) restricted Mumbai Indians (MI) to 162 for nine in 20 overs.
