Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has found his first IPL home with Punjab Kings, who secured his services for Rs 2.60 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, Inglis sparked interest due to his impressive T20 credentials.
A seasoned T20 performer
While this will be Inglis’ debut IPL season, he brings a wealth of experience from the shortest format. Having been a mainstay in the Big Bash League since 2017, Inglis has also showcased his skills in tournaments like the Major League Cricket, T20 Blast, and The Hundred. His ability to adapt across leagues has established him as a versatile and aggressive batsman.
Impressive stats
In his 137-match T20 career, Inglis has amassed 3,317 runs, including four centuries and 17 half-centuries, with a strike rate that reflects his attacking prowess. On the international stage, he has represented Australia in 29 matches, scoring 706 runs with two centuries and maintaining an impressive strike rate of nearly 157. Earlier this month, Inglis also captained Australia in a T20I series against Pakistan, underlining his leadership potential.
What Inglis brings to Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings, who have been active in reshaping their squad this auction, will benefit from Inglis’ aggressive batting and reliable wicketkeeping. His experience in multiple global leagues will be invaluable in high-pressure IPL matches. Inglis could be a vital asset in Punjab’s middle order, adding firepower and stability.
