Ankit Rajpoot is a fast bowler who hails from Uttar Pradesh. He was a remarkable debutant in the domestic season as he emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker for his side in that season. His performance got him a contract from Chennai Super Kings in the 2012-1013 season. The team was in a need for a fast bowler and he was picked. He played a few games but later was replaced by Mohit Sharma who performed at par and made himself prominent in the squad.
Even though having a good debut season, Rajpoot even struggled in the domestic circuit in the coming seasons. The 2016 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy helped him gain his career back. After becoming the third-highest wicket-taker, he was offered a contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders for two years. In 2018 Kings XI Punjab picked him up and he had the best bowling figures for an uncapped player but also proud to be expensive. His ability to have variations with the ball make him a good addition o the bowling attack.
He was released by KXIP after the 2019 season but he was lucky as Rajasthan Royals pulled him in. This season of the IPL will be very important for Rajpoot as he needs to prove his ability to be retained by the side. With high expectations on his performance, there will be a lot of people who would be hoping he performs well including the Rajasthan Royals management.
