The Indian Premier League 2023 is already breaking records as the ongoing auctions witnessed a deal breaking calls made by the franchises.
IPL fans and the fraternity witnessed the top 3 buys of all time as Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green got a whopping amount, which easily crossed INR 15 crore.
Sam Curran – Sam Curran, an English all-rounder, made his IPL debut in 2019 with Punjab Kings after placing third in the auction. In the T20 World Cup 2022, he was named the tournament’s best player. He was released by the Punjab Kings ahead of the 2020 IPL auction and purchased by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 5.5 crore that year.
The bidding war was started as soon as the player was presented. Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were fighting and the price was 10 crores in no time. Then CSK came back and they fought with Rajasthan Royals. Mumbai decided to back out after the price went above 12 crore. It went to cross ₹15 crore and was ultimately sold to Punjab Kings. At last, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings were fighting for Sam and this bidding battle was won by Punjab Kings. Sam Curran has become the most expensive buys in the history of IPL so far.
Cameron Green – Australia’s incredible performer Cameron Green gets sold to Mumbai Indians at ₹17.50 crore. Cameron Green was among the top potential players with the base price of ₹2 crore. There was fight between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in bidding for Cameron Green. Finally MI locks the deal at massive 17.50 crore to buy the Australian player.
Ben Stokes – Ben Stokes gets sold to Chennai Super Kings at 16.25 crore. Stokes was among the top potential players with the base price of ₹2 crore
