Of the 1,355 players who have registered for the IPL 2026 auction, five overseas names have officially informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about their restricted availability for the tournament. The list includes Ashton Agar (65%), William Sutherland (80%), Adam Milne (95%), Rilee Rossouw (20%), and Josh Inglis (25%).
Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis, currently part of the ongoing Ashes Test at the Gabba, has told the BCCI that he will be available for only a quarter of the season, effectively ruling himself in for no more than four matches. Inglis, 30, has set his base price at INR 2 crore.
Inglis had a steady outing for Punjab Kings last season, scoring 278 runs in 11 matches, including a standout 73 off 42 balls against Mumbai Indians, which helped Punjab secure a top-two finish. In Qualifier 2, he famously took on Jasprit Bumrah, scoring 20 runs in a single over to push Punjab into the final.
Punjab Kings initially considered retaining Inglis under head coach Ricky Ponting, but released him on the final day of the retention deadline after the player informed the franchise of a potential clash between the IPL schedule and his wedding plans. Any team picking him at the Abu Dhabi auction on December 16 will have his services only for a couple of weeks.
Among the others, Agar (INR 2 crore base price) has never featured in the IPL, while Sutherland (INR 1 crore) is also yet to make his debut. New Zealand’s Adam Milne, who has set his reserve price at INR 2 crore, has played in the IPL before but went unsold for the past three seasons. South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw, with only 20% availability and 22 career IPL matches since 2014, is unlikely to attract bids despite his experience.
The restricted availability declarations are expected to influence auction strategies as franchises begin final preparations for the December 16 mega event in Abu Dhabi.
