A ball boy touching a player’s feet is not a common sight in the IPL, but that is what happened with Venkatesh Iyer during a recent match, drawing attention both on and off the field.

Ball boy’s gesture, Iyer’s calm response

During the game, a young ball boy walked up and touched Iyer’s feet, a gesture of respect often seen in Indian culture. Iyer appeared surprised but handled it calmly, quickly asking the boy to get up and not repeat it. The moment was brief, but it spread quickly online. Fans were amused by Iyer’s reaction, with some enjoying the candid nature of the exchange.

Iyer has featured only once so far this season, coming in as an Impact Player against Rajasthan Royals after early wickets fell. He scored 29 off 15 balls, hitting two sixes and a four, helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru cross the 200 mark.

However, RCB lost that game as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel guided Rajasthan to a six-wicket win.

user 2-In south we don’t touch elders feet as a mark of respect, we do but it’s for getting blessings not often like this.https://x.com/Pbks862372/status/2043596465973645393

However, it is not confirmed whether the video is from the last match or any other game.

RCB bounced back strongly, beating Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in their yesterday’s match. Iyer, though, was not part of the playing XI. With RCB now third on the table, team combinations seem settled for now.
