The IPL 2026 trade window continues to produce major headlines, and the latest development suggests that Kolkata Knight Riders are keen on bringing KL Rahul into their squad ahead of the next season. According to a Times of India report, KKR are actively exploring a move for Rahul, as the franchise looks to strengthen its batting lineup and potentially secure a new leader for the upcoming season.
Rahul, who spent the IPL 2025 season at Delhi Capitals, has now emerged as a top target for KKR. With the franchise searching for a stable top-order batter who can also lead the side, the India star fits the profile perfectly.
However, a trade involving KL Rahul may not be straightforward. As per the report, DC are unwilling to part with core young players, and it appears KKR currently lack a like-for-like trade option that would satisfy Delhi’s requirements. Big names such as Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell are considered untouchable by the management, ruling them out of any swap discussions. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer, despite his high price tag, is unlikely to draw interest after a challenging IPL 2025 season.
The update comes alongside the Sanju Samson–Tristan Stubbs trade talks, which are reportedly in advanced stages between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. With Samson expected to move to Delhi, DC’s wicketkeeping and leadership equation could change, possibly opening further trade movement across teams.
KKR are also expected to target Cameron Green in the IPL 2026 auction, especially with purse space available after releasing Iyer. Following a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign under Ajinkya Rahane, the two-time champions are set to undergo significant restructuring ahead of the next season.
Whether KL Rahul moves to Kolkata remains uncertain, but the franchise’s intent signals a major shake-up as the countdown to the 2026 mega auction continues.
