RR smash 97 in Powerplay to post fifth-highest start in IPL history
Rajasthan Royals produced a brutal Powerplay against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, racing to 97/1 in the first six overs in Guwahati. It is now the fifth-highest Powerplay score in IPL history.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi led the charge with another explosive start, setting the tone early with clean hitting against the new ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal added early momentum with two big sixes off Josh Hazlewood before falling for 13.
Sooryavanshi fifty powers record Powerplay
Even after the early wicket, RR did not slow down. Sooryavanshi kept attacking, finding boundaries regularly against Abhinandan Singh and then taking on Hazlewood with a sequence of 4, 4, 4, 6. He raced to a record-breaking fifty in just 15 balls, putting RCB under pressure immediately.
Dhruv Jurel then took over in the sixth over, smashing 24 runs with a mix of boundaries and sixes to close out the Powerplay in style.
Despite Jaiswal’s dismissal, RR’s intent never dropped. The partnership between Sooryavanshi and Jurel ensured a dominant start, leaving RCB chasing the game early in a high-scoring contest.
Fastest team 100 for Rajasthan Royals in IPL came in 6.2 overs vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati, 2026 (tonight).
