RR opt to field as rain interrupts toss proceedings in Guwahati

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to field against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but rain returned to disrupt proceedings soon after.

Captain Riyan Parag said the decision was based on conditions. “We are bowling first. It is supposed to be a dry wicket. There is a little bit of moisture because of the rain, so we will try to extract it,” he said. He also confirmed one change, with Brijesh coming in for Tushar.

Rain halts toss as cheers greet Patidar

As Rajat Patidar stepped up for his interview, there was a loud cheer from the crowd, backing the RCB captain. However, the moment was cut short as rain started again, interrupting the toss proceedings midway.

Officials moved quickly as conditions worsened, raising the possibility of a delayed start despite the earlier clearance. Players began to move off the field as covers were brought back on.

Josh Hazlewood is back in the XI for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with the team opting for experience. Captain Rajat Patidar said Jacob Duffy had bowled well but backed Hazlewood’s presence to steady the side.

Ground staff continue to work on protecting the pitch and square as rain persists, leading to a further delay in the start. The match had been pushed to 8:15 PM, but play cannot begin until the rain stops and conditions improve enough for action.

The weather continues to play a role in the final Guwahati fixture of the season, with uncertainty around when play can begin.
