Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Rs 7 crore at the ongoing IPL 2026 mini-auction, marking a new chapter after his release from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the franchise he represented for several seasons.
Known for his aggressive left-handed batting and useful right-arm medium pace, Venkatesh Iyer has been one of the standout Indian all-rounders in the IPL over the past few years. His ability to impact games at the top of the order as well as contribute with the ball has made him a valuable asset in the shortest format.
Iyer rose to prominence with KKR during the IPL 2021 season, playing a key role in their run to the final with a series of match-winning performances. Over the years, he established himself as a core member of the KKR setup before being released ahead of the IPL 2026 auction as the franchise reshuffled its squad.
RCB’s move to sign Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 7 crore strengthens their Indian core and provides balance to their lineup, especially with his flexibility to bat in the top order or the middle order depending on team requirements.
With the defending champions adding his all-round skill set to their squad, Venkatesh Iyer will be keen to make an immediate impact in IPL 2026 under new colours.
