New Zealand batter Devon Conway went unsold at the IPL 2026 auctions, with no franchise bidding for him despite a base price of Rs 2 crore. Conway, who was a key part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) between 2022 and 2025, was released ahead of the auction following a dip in form.

Conway has played 29 IPL matches, all for CSK, scoring 1,080 runs at an impressive average of 43.20 and a strike rate of 139.72. His IPL career includes 11 half-centuries, with a highest score of 92 not out, underlining his consistency at the top of the order.

He was acquired by CSK in the 2022 mega auction at a base price of Rs 1 crore and quickly became a vital cog in the side. Conway’s standout season came in IPL 2023, when he finished as CSK’s leading run-scorer with 672 runs, playing a crucial role in the franchise’s title-winning campaign. He was also named Player of the Match in the final, scoring 47 off 25 balls.

During the 2025 season, Conway became the third-fastest batter in IPL history to reach 1,000 runs, achieving the milestone in just 24 innings. However, his momentum was disrupted after he missed the entire 2024 season due to a thumb injury. Upon returning in 2025, he struggled for consistency, scoring 156 runs in six matches at an average of 26.00.

Conway was also at the centre of discussion during IPL 2025 after being retired out in a match against Punjab Kings as part of a tactical move by CSK to accelerate the scoring rate.

Following his release, Conway entered the IPL 2026 auctions but found no takers. Players who go unsold in the auction can still return later in the season as injury replacements, keeping the door open for Conway to feature again in the IPL if an opportunity arises.
