Delhi Capitals (DC) added experience and firepower to their middle order after signing South African power-hitter David Miller for Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction.

Miller, one of the most established overseas batters in IPL history, has been a prominent figure in the league since 2012, earning a reputation as a destructive finisher capable of changing games in a matter of overs. Known widely as “Killer Miller”, the left-hander brings proven T20 pedigree and calmness under pressure to the DC setup.

IPL career and numbers

As of the end of the IPL 2025 season, Miller has featured in 141 IPL matches, scoring over 3,000 runs across his career. His longevity and adaptability across teams underline his value as a middle-order batter in the shortest format.

Franchise journey and milestones

Miller has represented multiple franchises over the years, beginning with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) from 2012 to 2019, followed by stints with Rajasthan Royals (2020–2021) and Gujarat Titans (2022–2024). He joined Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

One of the defining moments of his IPL career came in 2013, when he smashed an unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls for Kings XI Punjab against Royal Challengers Bengaluru—still the third-fastest century in IPL history.

Miller also played a crucial role in Gujarat Titans’ title-winning campaign in 2022, scoring 481 runs at an average of over 68, contributing significantly to the franchise lifting the trophy in its maiden season.

Role at Delhi Capitals

Primarily a middle-order batter, Miller is expected to slot in as a finisher, offering left-handed balance and experience in high-pressure chases. His ability to clear the boundary with ease remains one of his biggest assets in T20 cricket.

With DC securing him for Rs 2 crore, the franchise adds a seasoned match-winner ahead of the new IPL season.
