Washington Sundar has been handed his debut cap for Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Known for his tight off-spin and utility with the bat, Sundar’s inclusion comes at a perfect time, given the dry and slow surface expected for tonight’s encounter.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first, citing the nature of the black soil pitch which is expected to assist slower bowlers. “We’ve been playing well. This wicket looks slow and dry, quite different from the previous games. We need to adapt quickly,” said Gill at the toss.
Pat Cummins, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, said he was happy to bat first. SRH, who are at the bottom of the table after three consecutive losses, are in desperate need of a turnaround. Their current net run rate stands at a dismal -1.612.
The pitch report highlights square boundaries of 70m and 63m, and a straight boundary of 76m. The surface is compact and dry, with the highest total in the last three years being 165, suggesting another low-scoring affair.
