Sundar played a fluent knock, scoring 49 runs off 29 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, including a powerful 20-run over that shifted momentum during the middle overs. However, his hopes of reaching a half-century were dashed by Mohammed Shami, who dismissed him one run short of the milestone.
The dismissal sparked debate as Sundar cut a short delivery uppishly to sweeper cover, where Aniket Verma dived forward to complete a low catch. Replays showed a tight call, but third umpire Nitin Menon confirmed that the catch was clean, ruling Sundar out.
