Veteran Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has scripted history by becoming the most successful pacer in IPL history, overtaking Dwayne Bravo’s long-standing record. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Bhuvneshwar reached the remarkable milestone of 184 wickets in just 179 matches, placing him at the top of the list among pace bowlers in the tournament’s history.
He surpassed Dwayne Bravo, who had held the record with 183 wickets in 161 matches. The legendary Lasith Malinga follows with 170 wickets in 122 matches, while Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav round out the top five with 165 and 144 wickets, respectively.
Bhuvneshwar’s achievement is a testament to his longevity, consistency, and ability to adapt across IPL seasons. Known for his immaculate swing bowling and death-over precision, Bhuvi has been one of the cornerstones of Sunrisers Hyderabad since joining them in 2014.
The right-arm pacer has also won the Purple Cap twice — in 2016 and 2017 — and continues to deliver for his side even in the 2025 edition. His record becomes even more significant in an era where batters dominate and economy rates often soar in the death overs.
As Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to extend his tally, the question now is how far he can go and whether any pacer in the near future can match his legacy in the IPL.
