Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Giants, was all praise for his team after their hard-fought 12-run win against Mumbai Indians in Match 16 of IPL 2025. Speaking after the game, Pant acknowledged the quality of the surface and emphasized the importance of adapting to conditions.
“One thing is sure is that the wicket is playing really well and we need to figure out what’s working for us and what is not. Very simple. Before we wanted a different kind of wicket, but whatever was offered to us we will take it and play.”
He credited Mitchell Marsh’s blazing knock at the top for giving the middle-order breathing room to settle and strategize.
“When a player like Mitch Marsh gives us a start like that, it gives time to the middle-order. That’s the idea, we want to play according to the situation.”
Pant also applauded the team for holding their nerve under pressure, especially in the latter stages of the match.
“Mentally it was tough for all of us… but we held our nerve and finished it off.”
On individual performances, he had special words for Shardul Thakur and young pacer Digvesh Singh Rathi:
“(On Shardul) He is amazing for us, now I can say that he has been an amazing pick. We need to back him.”
“(On Rathi) He is one of our leading bowlers… good to see a youngster perform like that.”
Pant’s measured leadership and praise for key contributors reflect LSG’s growing confidence as they look to build momentum in IPL 2025.
