Speculations swirled about Rishabh Pant’s potential return in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, gaining momentum after the wicketkeeper-batsman was seen at a Delhi Capitals camp last month in Kolkata alongside key franchise figures, including Sourav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting, and Pravin Amre. Recent reports hinted at Pant not only making a comeback but also taking on the role of captain for Delhi Capitals.
Pant, who has been sidelined since a car accident in December 2022 resulting in severe knee ligament injuries, addressed the rumors on the eve of the mini-auction in Dubai. The cricketer shared that he is in a significantly better condition than a few months ago but still needs a few more months to attain full fitness.
Speaking about his recovery journey, Pant expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received during the challenging period. He acknowledged the love, respect, and concern shown by people, which played a pivotal role in his heartwarming and steady recovery.
With time until March, Pant and Delhi Capitals have the flexibility to make the final call on his participation in IPL 2024. If he makes a return, it will mark Pant’s maiden appearance since the Bangladesh tour in late 2022.
