RR plans to use the next IPL 2024 auction to strategically acquire players to bolster its roster. In the 2023 edition, RR placed fifth on the points table. Despite their early 2008 success, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had difficulty winning more trophies in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

They placed fifth on the points table in the 2023 season, led by Sanju Samson. Interestingly, the squad started the trade season this year by obtaining Avesh Khan in return for Devdutt Padikkal from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The Royals are going to try to get players who have an impact and can lead them to a second championship as they prepare for the new season.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) paid Rs 13.25 Cr. to acquire Harry Brook in the 2023 IPL Auction. Though he averaged 21.11 and scored 190 runs in 11 games during that season, his performance was lacking. The batting order change influenced him even though he scored a century against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). A valuable complement to the Royals’ middle order with his power-hitting abilities and excellent fielding, Brook was released by Hyderabad before the 2024 Indian Premier League.

Daryl Mitchell, who was acquired by the Royals in 2022, appeared in just two contests and scored 33 runs overall. Mitchell rose to popularity in the ODI World Cup 2023, despite not selling well in the IPL 2023. Rajasthan could take advantage of this New Zealand all-rounder’s recent success and sign him to bolster their team.

Gus Atkinson, a young English pacer with promise, displayed his abilities in the CWC 2023. The tall Surrey boy, effective in line and length, is guaranteed to draw notice. The Royals may aim to get Atkinson in order to strengthen their fast-bowling attack, given his base price of one crore.

Umesh Yadav, who was acquired by KKR in 2022, had a fantastic season for the team, claiming 16 wickets in 12 games. However, he didn’t have as much success in the IPL 2023. After being released by KKR, Rajasthan may think about utilising Yadav’s newfound skill with the ball to produce pivotal game-changing moments.

In 2022, the Royals released Karun Nair, the only other Test triple centurion in India. Nair displayed exceptional form in the most recent Twenty20 competition, the Maharaja KSCA T20 Trophy, even if his IPL career took a downturn. In the semi-final, he scored a century. His recent good form and expertise playing both middle-order and top-order cricket make him an appealing option for Rajasthan in the IPL 2024 auction.
