IPL 2024: Anushka Sharma’s reaction goes viral after Virat Kohli gets out

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters came out with great intent in a do-or-die clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024 on Saturday. It’s a make-or-break match for both teams to grab a playoff spot, but more so for RCB, who have to beat CSK by 18 runs to qualify for the top four.

Starting with the opening duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, along with Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green, everyone contributed as RCB posted a massive target for CSK. While RCB skipper Du Plessis scored a half-century, Kohli narrowly missed the mark by just three runs.

Kohli’s dismissal sparked a viral moment when he was caught on the boundary ropes by Daryl Mitchell off Mitchell Santner. Mitchell had a tricky situation as he lost balance but was aware of the ropes to take a clean catch. Even Virat Kohli’s wife, actress Anushka Sharma, initially thought Mitchell had gone past the rope before realizing Kohli was out, leading to a viral reaction.

Ahead of the crucial clash with CSK, Kohli revealed the reason behind his high strike rate in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. He attributed it to the Impact Player Rule, which allows teams to introduce a 12th player from a five-player list during the match.

“I am telling you, with one extra batter, there is a reason I am playing with a 200-plus strike rate in the powerplays. I know there is a batsman waiting at No. 8 as well. I think it has disrupted the balance, and a lot of people are feeling this way, not just me,” Kohli said while speaking on Jio Cinema.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma also shared his views, expressing concern that the Impact Player Rule could hinder the development of all-rounders like Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar, who are not getting a chance to bowl, which is not ideal for Team India.

As the high-stakes clash between RCB and CSK unfolds, Kohli’s intent and the Impact Player Rule’s influence have taken center stage, adding an extra layer of excitement and drama to this must-win encounter.
