In his first match of the IPL 2023 season, Gaikwad scored 92 runs, against reigning champions Gujarat Titans, in Ahmedabad. His 92 runs came in just 50 balls at a 184 strike rate. He hit four boundaries and nine sixes in his brisk innings.

Kyle Mayers

On his debut, Kyle Mayers became the first player to hit back-to-back half-centuries. In the game against CSK, Mayers hit 53 off 22 deliveries before getting dismissed on Moeen Ali’s ball. In the two IPL matches he has played so far, the 30-year-old West Indian has scored 126 runs at an average of 63.00 and a strike rate of 210.00. He scored 73 off 38 balls in the first match against Delhi Capitals.

Shikhar Dhawan 

Punjab Kings skipper Dhawan scored 86 not out against the Rajasthan Royals. On Wednesday – April 5, Shikhar Dhawan joined batting superstar Virat Kohli and Delhi Capitals opening batter and captain David Warner on an elite list of batters. The left-handed batter became only the third cricketer in the Indian Premier League history to score fifty of fifty-plus totals.

Virat Kohli

Former RCB captain Virat Kohli had a forgettable night against KKR, scoring just 21. However, he is doing just enough to move into 4th position in the Orange Cap race. Kohli now has 103 runs from 2 matches after scoring 82 not out in the opening RCB game against the Mumbai Indians.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson moved to the 5th position on the orange cap list. Sanju Samson scored 55 runs off 32 balls with three fours and four sixes against SRH in the first game of IPL 2023. The Rajasthan Royals skipper was one of the three batters, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, to score the fifties.
