Gujarat Titans will meet Rajasthan Royals in the final match of the Tata Indian Premier League 2022 on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.

The final on Sunday will be a rematch of the first qualifier, which Gujarat won by seven wickets against Rajasthan on Tuesday.

It’s been a long time since the Royals reached another final since 2008. The ‘Men in Pink’ want to rewrite history and pay respect to Shane Warne, their ‘first Royal,’ who died in March. When the Royals returned to the league in 2018 after a two-year break, they mainly relied on the players from England and Australia to build their foundation.

Warne guided Rajasthan to victory in the debut season of the premier T20 league fourteen years ago. In the final of a season that began only weeks after the Australian spin legend’s shocking death, they will meet another team of first-timers.

RCB’s IPL 2022 campaign came to an end on Friday as they were defeated by Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to play, and their bowling attack created the groundwork for a resounding victory by limiting Bangalore to 157/8. Rajasthan raced over with 11 balls to spare after Buttler, the top IPL scorer this season, hammered 106 not out of 60 balls.

Royals have made it to the final of the Indian Premier League 2022 under the leadership of Sanju Samson. With his brilliant strokeplay and intelligent decision-making, the 27-year-old has driven from the front as the Royals secure their second IPL final since reaching the final in the first season (2008), that they also won.

It’s amazing to think that Sanju, one of India’s top wicketkeeper batters, was almost unknown when the Royals last made the IPL final, 14 years ago.

Jos Buttler donned the Orange Cap after months of absolutely any preparation, allowing the skill to speak for itself and rising as a match-winner. Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin had off days, however when they recovered their flow, they made sure to put the opposition on the floor. In the middle-order, the energetic Shimron Hetmyer made a difference.

Overall, the Royals have the potential to emerge from their ‘upper edge’ shade and reload. The way Buttler restored his form after a string of setbacks, or the way Prasidh Krishna rebounded with three wickets in the second qualifier against RCB despite getting thrashed by David Miller in the previous match, shows the camp’s mentality of accepting the defeat and moving on.

Before the big final of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022, 73 IPL 2022 competitive matches have been completed. It’s been a good season, with intensive competition in most matches.

The previous champions will be looking for their second title triumph in the IPL 2022 final, which they will play for the first time since 2008. Sanju Samson will be trying to win the one game that counts the most after losing both games to the Gujarat Titans this season.
