Kings XI Punjab franchise is one of those franchises that is yet to win a single Trophy in the India Premier League. The franchise is likely to come up with a new team name and logo ahead of IPL 2021, according to the sources. The official announcement is likely to happen a day before the IPL auction i.e., 17th February.
Punjab was one of the most strong teams in the IPL 2021 with having big names on the list like Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Maxwell, and many more. The team made a horrible start of the season 13 of IPL and lost their first 6 matches out of 7. The duo, Mayank and KL Rahul did their job well but the middle-order batsmen made things go away from the hands. However, after that, they also won 5 consecutive matches but couldn’t make it to the playoffs.
The franchise released some of its big names like Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, Sheldon Cottrell, and many more which helped the franchise to have the biggest purse for the IPL auctions in 2021. They have INR 53.20 crores in their kitty to spend and they are hopeful for the IPL 2021 as some of the big names like Steve Smith, Chris Morris, Harbhajan Singh will be available in the auctions.
