The former Mumbai Indians (MI) leg-spinner Mayank Markande’s cricket life has been a rollercoaster ride in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mayank Markande made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in the year 2018 and earned 7 wickets in his first two matches. However, he couldn’t recreate his IPL magic in 2019 which led to his exit from the Mumbai Indians (MI).

In a recent interview, with Sport360, Mayank Markande revealed that his poor health was the reason for his downfall from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mayank Markande made his T20 debut against Australia in the year 2019. In the subsequent IPL match, Mayank Markande managed to take only one wicket in three games, which dropped him out from playing, due to his poor health and replaced him with Rahul Chahar.

Speaking of his dismissal season in 2019. Mayank Markande, says; “I did very well in 2018 and went on to make my India debut as well. What went wrong for me in 2019 was that I caught fever. Rahul Chahar came in as the replacement in the next match and impressed instantly. In the IPL, the competition is cut-throat and every player is waiting for their chance. That’s what Rahul did, he grabbed the opportunity with both the hands”.

The Mumbai Indians ( MI) management team was immensely impressed by Chahar’s performance and decided to trade Mayank Markande out to Delhi Capitals (DC) before IPL 2020. Delhi Capitals (DC)  franchise traded Mayank to Rajashthan Royals (RR).

Mayank Markande is waiting for an opportunity to prove himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) once again.

“I didn’t get the chance to reclaim my place after that. So now I am just waiting for my chance. I think Rajasthan Royals is known for giving chances to the youngsters. They have proved it in the previous seasons” Mayank continued.

The Punjab based player will don the Rajasthan jersey in IPL 2020.
