The IPL is the world’s most-watched cricketing league and it has without any doubt given Indian cricket gems over the years. Cricketers like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah were products of the IPL and today they are an important part of the Indian cricket team. Keeping up with the trend, Robin Uthappa is supporting another young batsman who he believes can do wonders for the Indian camp in the future and he is no other than 18-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The young opener made headlines last year when he hit 203 runs off 154 balls in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Jharkhand which made him the younger male double centurion in List A cricket. He was also an integral part of the India under-19 World Cup team in 2019 scoring 400 runs in 6 matches to help India reach the final.
Jaiswal is ready for his first IPLstint where he will be playing for Rajasthan Royals. Robin Uthappa who has been an IPL star tips that this youngster will become a big part of the Indian cricket and hopes that the IPL can raise his stocks. “Yashasvi is a really exciting player for the future. I think he has performed extremely well in domestic cricket and having more IPL will be good for him in his pursuit of playing for India,” Uthappa said in a video uploaded on IPL’s Twitter handle.

“Very happy to get back to playing, competing, and not just individually but as a team. I think that’s what I enjoyed a lot more… Most definitely, it is going to be really special this year, simply because of what we all have gone through as a human race,” Uthappa said. “I think in this unpredictable time, we were and are craving for normalcy and this tournament and sports, in general, bring about that feeling of normalcy back into our lives.
“Indians and cricket lovers all around the world will really be looking forward to this tournament. So, in that sense, it is a big, big IPL. Having said that, I think like any other team, our desire and intention are to go out there and compete extremely well and hopefully win the tournament.”
