Rashid Khan may be among the most feared bowlers in T20 cricket, but when it comes to using the Decision Review System (DRS), his track record is far from elite. A graphic shown during the 56th IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium highlighted the Afghan spinner’s surprisingly poor DRS success rate in the tournament.

According to the stats flashed on broadcast, Rashid has gone for DRS 36 times in the IPL. Out of those, only 7 reviews have been successful, while 26 have failed and 3 remained umpire’s call—giving him a success rate of just 19%.

While his judgement with DRS may be off, Rashid once again proved his worth with the ball by breaking a key partnership. In the 12th over, he dismissed the well-set Will Jacks (53 off 35), who was looking dangerous with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Jacks attempted a sweep shot but was caught by Sai Sudharsan near the deep square-leg boundary, giving Rashid his first wicket of the night.

At the time of Jacks’ dismissal, MI were 103/4 in 11.4 overs, with Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma at the crease. Rashid’s bowling figures read 2.4-0-15-1, tightening the screws on MI after a strong start.

While Rashid continues to impact matches with the ball, the data reveals that he might want to revisit his instincts when it comes to calling for reviews.
