Deepak Chahar a BCCI contracted payer with a Grade C contract tested positive for COVID-19 earlier. He was put in a 14-day quarantine outside the bio-secure bubble and had to be tested after the 2 week period. In a boost to the side, he tested negative and rejoined the squad although he has not started training yet. Ruturaj Gaikwad was the other player who tested positive, he is still in isolation as he was quarantined on a later date.

“Except for the Indian batsman, who is in quarantine, all others have come out. The Indian fast bowler has tested negative twice and is back,” Kasi Viswanathan, the Super Kings’ CEO told ESPNcricinfo. As for the Indian uncapped player, Viswanathan said that this individual was still under quarantine but was “fine with no symptoms”. This player is expected to finish his quarantine on September 12.

Before Chahar can join the training setup he needs to pass another fitness test including a cardio test which is put in place by the BCCI. After a long hustle for the side with their players pulling out of the league, this is a positive development for them. CSK will play the opener against Mumbai Indians who are the defending champions.
