Chennai Super Kings have had an even start to their IPL campaign this season having won one match and lost one match in the couple of games they have played so far. Pacer Lungi Ngidi was under the scrutiny as he conceded 30 runs in his last over against the Rajasthan Royals which took RR’s total beyond 215 in the final over, eventually costing the game for CSK. However, captain MS Dhoni will be looking to quickly put that past him and his team to bounce back in this game.

Delhi Capitals won their first game against the Kings XI in the super over after the match ended as a tie initially with both teams scoring 157 runs in their 20 overs. All-rounder Marcus Stoinis was the star man as he scored 50 runs in the last 3 overs for the Capitals in their batting innings and also took a couple of wickets in the last over of their bowling innings, defending just one run in the final 3 balls.

Chennai’s game against the Capitals will be their 3rd game of the season and it will be their third consecutive game on a different pitch, having played the first game in Abu Dhabi followed by Sharjah and now in Dubai.

Delhi Capitals will play their 2nd game of the season having played the last game on Sunday. They will be well rested after a 5 day gap and with their young squad as compared to the ageing one of CSK, they are better equipped to edge past them and claim a victory, however with Captain Cool and CSK you can never be too sure.

Important Stats:

  • Among players with a minimum of 100 runs in the IPL since 2019, Sam Curran’s strike rate of 194 is second-best, only behind Andre Russell.
  • The IPL’s greatest ever bowler, Lasith Malinga, picked up at least two wickets for eight matches straight in 2012. No one’s beaten that streak just yet, but Kagiso Rabada has already matched it. He really has been that good in the IPL.
  • Dhoni needs two sixes to get his tally up to 300 in T20 cricket.
  • The average score in Dubai over the last one-and-a-half years of T20 cricket is 153. Fast bowlers take twice as many wickets as spinners (four per game vs two per game), but spinners have been better at keeping the runs down (6.7 vs 7.7).
