On Thursday, the Indian Premier League announces that three times Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings qualify for the playoffs for this year prestigious tournament as they had to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad to achieve the target as they did beat them by 6 wickets in the end. Chennai Super Kings now have 18 points in their 11 matches and only with three games to go in their belt, they might be considered as favourites to take away the trophy this year.

With 41 matches out of 53 done, currently, after that, it is Dhoni’s troops who have taken the first spot in the playoffs round, therefore awaiting for the next three teams to join them. They have taken the first spot by a net run rate of +0.440, which is a pretty big margin compared to the performance of the other teams. They will now look to avoid the eliminator by finishing in the top 2, which they can clinch by winning the next two of the three games. CSK’s win now brings big pressure on Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals as they have been equally good in their performance in the IPL, and will try to best to finish in the Top 2, to avoid the eliminator game.

The battle for the remaining three spots remain very tough and will be very close as four teams are battling it out which are the Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and defending champions Mumbai Indians, but currently, it’s KKR and MI who need to win their remaining fixture as every match is very important and means a lot to the franchise.
