The 14th edition of the cash-rich league that is the Indian Premier League is all set to start in the month of April of 2021. The dates are yet to be finalized but Cricket Australia announced that they will issue the No-objection Certificates (NOC) of the Australian players on a case-by-case basis.
The CEO of Cricket Australia, Nick Hockley, announced a day after they postponed the tour of South Africa. The IPL-bound Australian players are allowed to be the part of IPL-14 unless there would be any injury. Also, Nick said that they don’t have any problem in issuing the NOC as IPL is scheduled during the Cricket Australia’s break.
“We have, obviously, got precedent on that from the IPL last year. We have got, obviously, the IPL, if you like, (has) proven its bio-security protocols,” CA interim CEO Nick Hockley was quoted as saying by ‘Sydney Morning Herald’.
“As and when applications are made, we will consider each of those case-by-case, on their merits,” he added.
The 13th edition of the IPL which was played in the bio-bubble environment of the United Arab Emirates in 2020 consists of 19 Australian players. Ahead of IPL 2021, nine of them are released by the franchise including Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell.
The next edition of IPL is all set to held in India in a secure bio-bubble environment. Also, BCCI is trying to vaccinate the players who are going to be part of the IPL. The final dates are not finalized yet but as per sources, the league could start from the second week of April.
