N Srinivasan, the chief of Indian cement that owns Chennai Super Kings, clarified that his statements on Suresh Raina were misunderstood and  were ‘taken out of context’.

Speaking to Times of India (TOI) on Monday, Srinivasan said “The franchise will always stand by him and he has our complete support during this time of distress”.

“His (Raina’s) contribution to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise has been phenomenal through the years”

“It is important to understand what Suresh is going through right now and give him space” N Srinivasan added.

Ever since he was picked by CSK ahead of the inaugural IPL in 2008, Raina has been the quintessential “Chennai boy”, earning the nickname “Chinna Thala” (second in command) to skipper MS Dhoni or “Thala” (leader).

Raina happens to be the second-highest run-getter in IPL all time over the 12 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament till now, Raina in fact, is als most capped player in IPL with 193 matches, three ahead of MS Dhoni and all predominantly for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), except the two years he played for the Gujarat Lions team.

Suresh Raina began to feel claustrophobic inside the hotel room of the Taj in Dubai after the team members had isolated themselves post their arrival in UAE .
