Australian all-rounder Cameron Green created history at the IPL 2026 auction after being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player ever at an IPL auction and the third-most expensive player overall in league history.
Green’s record-breaking deal places him behind only Rishabh Pant, who was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27.00 crore in IPL 2025, and Shreyas Iyer, who joined Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore in the same auction cycle. With this, Green overtook previous overseas records held by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
Green’s IPL journey so far
Green made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians in 2023, where he enjoyed a strong first season. He scored 452 runs, including an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls, and picked up six wickets, underlining his value as a genuine all-rounder.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Green was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. While his second season was more mixed, he still contributed 255 runs and 10 wickets across 13 matches, despite being briefly dropped mid-season. He missed the 2025 season due to injury, before returning fit for the 2026 auction.
