With only four days left for the IPL mega auction, one of India’s best spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin expresses his desire to play with the team where it all started, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Ashwin, in a candid chat with IPL auctioneer Richard Madley, said that it would be nice to join his first-ever franchise in the IPL, CSK. However, he isn’t very optimistic about the possibility to play for Chennai this season because of the retention of Moeen Ali.

“I am 35 now, it will be nice to come back to where I started but they already have an off-spinner with them in Moeen Ali. So I don’t know how they gonna go about it, so let’s wait and watch”, said Ashwin in a chat with IPL auctioneer Richard Madley.

Ashwin began his IPL journey in 2009 with CSK under MS Dhoni’s leadership. He was with the franchise before they were suspended for two years due to some match-fixing issues. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was bought by the Punjab franchise for Rs 7.6 cr. He was also the captain of Punjab for two seasons and then later on he moved to the Delhi franchise.

The 35-year-old also said that he has no clue about where he might end up. He believes that some teams have got money, some teams have already retained a lot of players and he feels it is going to be a real topsy-turvy sort of a curve.

So far, Ashwin has played 167 matches, scalping 145 wickets at an average of 27.80. He is just five wickets away to hit the milestone of 150 wickets in IPL and in the upcoming season he would be looking to achieve that milestone.

Ashwin is also one of the marquee names to go under the hammer in the mega auction this year.
