IPL along with its charms and glamour is sparked with controversies

The IPL in its Inaugural season was a well received and appreciated cricket tournament and the viewers got a hold of something new and exciting that was the format of 20-20 cricket and was a instant success in the Cricket Scene though all was not smooth sailing in the inaugural run as some controversies did manage to become the highlights of the season.

The Cheerleader Racial Discrimination.

The IPL was criticized by some Politicians and feminists group for bringing in the foreign cheerleaders as they were not seen to be in the traditional spirit of the game and some others raised their concerns for the move to be against the Indian cultural ethics, the story came into light when two cheerleaders from London were not allowed to enter the venue at the Stadium of Mohali by the team of Wizcraft Entertainment “because of their color”, Wizcraft International at the time handled Kings X1 Punjab ,Ellesha Newton and Sherinne Anderson were the two cheerleaders who also claimed that one of the employees referred them with a racial slur “nigger”. The cheerleaders though did not speak of it and neither launched a complain against the parties involved in this, thus a stain on the part of a successful IPL campaign.

Sreeshant- Harbhajan singh Altercation.

It was 25th of April 2008 when Mumbai Indians lost to KingsX1 Punjab at Mohali and the In-stand Captain of Mumbai Indian team Harbhajan Singh Slapped Sreeshanth under his eyes, The incident was caught on the T.V Cameras and thus sparked speculations whats cause the incident. When asked about it Sreeshant told he has no complaints against him and was like an “elder brother” to him, The BCCI took a note of the Incident and launched an investigation which saw Harbahjan Singh sidelined for the remainder 11 matches of T-20 Tournament.
