The two new teams – Ahmedabad and Lucknow respectively have drafted their choices before the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2022.
The Lucknow team has chosen KL Rahul to possibly lead the team and have drafted him at the valuation of ₹ 17 crores while Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi are bought at ₹ 9.2 crores and ₹ 4 crores respectively.
Team Ahmedabad announced Hardik Pandya as he will be seen taking the leadership role for the new IPL team and is been bought at ₹ 15 crores along with Rashid Khan (₹ 15 crores) who has been valued the same amount of money as Hardik Pandya. Surprisingly Shubman Gill has been picked for ₹ 8 crores by the Ahmedabad team.
Lucknow team will be probably mentored by former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir while Andy Flower will be coaching the team. Team Ahmedabad too announced its head coach, which is Ashish Nehra. Along with Nehra, World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the batting coach.
While Hardik was not retained by his former team Mumbai Indians, KL Rahul at the other end wished to leave Punjab Kings because of his reasons. Ravi Bishnoi, Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, and Marcus Stoinis too have been left by their former franchises and are now picked by the new teams.
After the two new teams got the LOI by BCCI to carry on with the teamwork, they were asked to deliver the draft pick choice by January 22. Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow as well as CVC Capital-owned Ahmedabad have been successful in getting the legal permissions by the governing council of this tournament as well as getting the players signed to be in the new team.
The two friends known for a true bond will now be rivals as the new teams will aim to win at their debut to this nail-biting tournament named Indian Premier League.
As per the reports the auction is set to be held in Bengaluru on February 12th and 13th tentatively.
