Indian batter Yash Dhull went unsold at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, failing to attract a bid despite entering the auction with a base price of Rs 30 lakh and enjoying an impressive run in domestic cricket over the past season.
Dhull made his IPL debut with Delhi Capitals in 2023, after being picked up in the 2022 mega auction. However, his opportunities at the IPL level were limited. Across four IPL matches, he managed 16 runs, with a highest score of 13, averaging 5.33 at a strike rate of 84.21. He was released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Strong domestic comeback
Away from the IPL, Dhull has staged a notable comeback in the 2025–26 domestic season, particularly after returning from heart surgery in mid-2025. His performances across formats have been among the highlights of the domestic circuit.
In the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, Dhull finished as the third-highest run-scorer, piling up 435 runs in eight matches at a staggering average of 87.00 and a strike rate of 167.31, including two centuries and three half-centuries.
He carried that form into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025–26, scoring 261 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.28 and a strike rate of 145.00, with two fifties. In red-ball cricket, Dhull also impressed by scoring a century for North Zone in the Duleep Trophy and featuring for Delhi in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.
Unsold, but not out of contention
Despite his strong recent form and versatility across formats, franchises opted not to bid for Dhull during the auction rounds. However, his domestic performances have firmly put him back on the radar.
As with other unsold players, Dhull remains eligible to be signed later as a replacement if teams face injuries or availability issues during the IPL 2026 season, keeping the door open for a return to the league.
