IPL 2022: Mumbai to host 55, while Pune to host 15 matches

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium to host 55 matches of the mega event, while Pune’s MCA International Stadium is expected to host 15 matches.

After the breathtaking IPL auction, the cricketing world was eagerly waiting for the schedule of the Mega event. This year, Tata IPL 2022 will feature ten teams, with Gujrat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants being the new franchisee.

It was reported by Cricbuzz that, The start date of the tournament is not yet fixed. BCCI is weighing over two days to start the tournament; March 26 is the preferred date by the official broadcaster, while another date is 27th, which is under consideration.

Further, each team will play four matches at the Wankhede, DY Patil Stadium, and three at Brabourne and Pune. The tournament is set to conclude on Sunday, May 29. The venues for playoffs are not fixed yet by BCCI but will be decided soon. As per Reports, the final decision is to be taken in the IPL governing council meeting which has been scheduled for February 24, Thursday.

This year, the IPL auction was one of the most unimaginable auctions in IPL history. 600 players went under the hammer this year. The likes of Suresh Raina, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan went unsold, which was a significant surprise for the fans.

IPL Auction 2022 also created many new records. Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player of 2022; he was sold for a whopping amount of INR 15.25 crore to Mumbai Indians. He became the second most expensive Indian player in IPL’s history. Further, Deepak Chahar was sold to Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crore. Chahar became the most expensive Indian bowler in IPL history. Avesh Khan also became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history after Lucknow Super Giants bought him for INR 10 crore.
