Indian youngster goes all blazing to top the T20I Player Rankings

India’s spinner, Ravi Bishnoi, has extended his remarkable ascent by securing the coveted No.1 spot on the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

Despite making his international debut just last year, the 23-year-old has showcased consistent performances for India, propelling him four spots up in the updated rankings to claim the premier position.

Bishnoi’s stellar run includes being named Player of the Series in India’s recent 4-1 triumph over Australia on home soil. Since his debut against the West Indies in February 2022, he has amassed an impressive tally of 34 wickets from 21 T20I matches.

The leg-spinner initially turned heads during the ICC Men’s Under 19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa in 2020, finishing as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets. While often competing with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin for a spot in India’s formidable lineup, Bishnoi consistently delivers when given the opportunity. His noteworthy economy rate of 7.14 stands out among India’s current crop of bowlers.

Bishnoi’s ascent to the top spot has resulted in a reshuffling of the T20I Bowling Rankings, with Rashid Khan dropping to second place and Adil Rashid, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana all sliding down one spot in the top 10. Meanwhile, India’s Axar Patel makes a significant leap, climbing 16 places to 11th.

In the batting rankings, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Australia’s Travis Head are the standout performers, rising 16 places each to 19th and 29th, respectively. These rankings reflect their commendable performances in the recent series on the subcontinent.
