Indian cricket captain, Rohit Sharma gets nominated for the Test batting performance of the year at the ESPNcricinfo awards.
The 34-year-old attains his nomination after he knocks 161 runs against England in the second Test last year. India had been smashed in the first Test on a slow burner Chennai track that appears to wake up after two days of rest.
The curator gets to work upon the surface for the second Test, ensuring that the spinners had come into their own from the first session. Rohit came sweeping excellently with and against the turn, producing a stunning hit against the English spinners like Jack Leach, Moeen Ali, and Joe Root.
Rohit’s counterstrike innings kept India in dominance. As the Test match was proceeding, it was evident the conditions were not as easy as Rohit had made them look, Indian spinners had run through England twice and the series was level off at 1-1.
Currently, Rohit is captaining the Indian team against West Indies in a three-match ODI series that had begun on February 6. India won the first match of the series against the West Indies by 6 wickets.
The second match of the series will be played tomorrow starting from 1:30 pm, and they will finish the series with their last match on February 11.
