The BCCI announced on Tuesday that Shreyas Iyer has been cleared to play in the second Test against Australia in Delhi (February 14). As a result, after receiving approval from the BCCI Medical Team, the middle-order batter will join the team in New Delhi.

Iyer has missed recent New Zealand ODIs due to a back injury that has kept him out of action for nearly a month. In the ODI series against Sri Lanka last month, he made his final appearance for India. Iyer wasn’t able to join the group for the first Test in Nagpur despite being named to the Test squad for the Australia series. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav was handed a Test debut.

India’s squad for second Test:Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav
