Rain has interrupted play on Day 2 of the 1st Test between India and New Zealand, with India precariously placed at 13/3 after 12.4 overs. The drizzle was heavy enough to force the players off the field at 10:27 Local Time (04:57 GMT), and dark conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium further contributed to the halt.
New Zealand’s bowlers, led by Matt Henry and William O’Rourke, were in complete control, troubling the Indian batters in the challenging conditions. India lost three early wickets, including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both falling inside the first hour of play. Sarfaraz Khan was the last man to fall, leaving the hosts in deep trouble.
At the crease are Rishabh Pant (3 off 11 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (8 off 37 balls), as they look to stabilize India’s innings once play resumes. The break may come as a relief for India, giving them a chance to regroup after New Zealand’s seamers made the most of the conditions.
