India’s tactical move to promote Sanju Samson to No.3 lasted only a few balls, as the wicketkeeper-batter fell cheaply at the MCG, ending the experiment almost immediately.
Samson, who was sent ahead of skipper Suryakumar Yadav, survived just four deliveries before being trapped LBW by Nathan Ellis for 2. The delivery jagged back sharply, hitting Samson on the back leg. Unlike Shubman Gill’s earlier DRS reprieve, Samson was deep in his crease and ball-tracking showed it going on to crash into leg stump.
Dismissal:
Samson lbw b Nathan Ellis 2 (4)
Ball tracking: Hitting leg stump, no doubt.

Immediately after the wicket, Suryakumar Yadav walked in, returning to his usual No.4 slot.
India are now under early pressure after losing both openers inside the powerplay, with Abhishek Sharma holding one end.
