Axar Patel’s stay at the crease came to a chaotic end at the MCG, as the all-rounder was run-out while attempting a risky third run during India’s innings against Australia in the second T20I.

Facing Xavier Bartlett, Axar pushed the ball wide and ran hard with Abhishek Sharma, completing two runs comfortably. However, a delayed call for the third caused confusion between the batters. Tim David fired a flat throw to Josh Inglis at the striker’s end, who made no mistake. Axar was found well short despite a full-length dive, departing for 7 off 12 balls.

The dismissal came at a critical stage as India slipped to 49/5 in 7.3 overs, having already lost Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma in quick succession. Abhishek Sharma, batting fluently, now shoulders India’s hopes as the side tries to recover from early damage.
