IND vs WI: Dhawan, Ruturaj, Shreyas & others test positive for COVID-19

The Indian players and staff members test positive for COVID-19, citing quarantine concerns.

Veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan, reserve batsman Ruturaj, and sensational middle-order batsman Shreyas have been tested positive for COVID-19 along with some staff members and all the players have been mandatorily quarantined with the tested players under isolation. The isolation will at least be a week-long until the 2 RT-PCR tests come out negative.

According to the reports of ANI, Arun Dhumal, BCCI treasurer states that the management is looking closely at the matter. All the players have been mandatorily quarantined, already being in the bio-bubble.

With Shikhar Dhawan being isolated, Venkatesh Iyer might have a chance to open with the newly appointed skipper Rohit Sharma. It would be surprising to watch the changes in the playing XI as three crucial players will be isolated for testing positive COVID-19. The stand-by players might get an opportunity to get picked up in the squad. The stand byes are Shahrukh Khan, R Sai Kishore, Rishi Dhawan.

Both the teams have arrived in Ahmedabad for the upcoming white-ball series which includes 3 One Day Internationals in Ahmedabad which is set to play behind closed doors and 3 T20s will be played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata with 75 per cent of seating capacity. India will be playing their 1000th ODI against West Indies with the three players being unavailable in the squad.
