Cricket fans were left fuming after a shocking umpiring decision during Day 2 of the India vs West Indies 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. In a dramatic moment, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was cruising on 175 off 258 balls, was declared run-out without the on-field umpires consulting the third umpire — a move that has sparked major controversy online.
The incident occurred early in the morning session when Jayden Seales bowled a full delivery that Jaiswal drove towards mid-off. His batting partner Shubman Gill hesitated to respond to the quick call, leaving Jaiswal stranded mid-pitch. The West Indies fielder threw the ball toward the keeper’s end, and Tevin Imlach attempted to break the stumps.
However, replays showed that the ball might not have been firmly in the keeper’s gloves when the bails were dislodged. Despite this, the on-field umpire immediately gave Jaiswal out, and shockingly, no referral to the third umpire was made. The decision drew visible disbelief from both Jaiswal and Gill, who appeared frustrated at the umpiring call.
At the time of writing, India were 343/3 in 94.2 overs, with Gill batting on 33 and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy on 10. The wicket broke a solid partnership and left fans disappointed that Jaiswal missed out on what seemed like a certain double century.
