Team India continued their confident start in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Final at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, putting up a solid batting display against South Africa after being asked to bat first.

At the end of 12 overs, India were 66 for no loss, with openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana looking well set at the crease. Shafali was batting on 31 off 32 balls with 5 boundaries, while Smriti remained unbeaten on 27 off 40 deliveries, also striking 5 fours.

The pair has so far added 66 runs for the opening wicket, maintaining a healthy run rate of 5.5 runs per over. South Africa’s bowlers, Nadine de Klerk (2-0-6-0) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (3-0-9-0), have kept things tight, but India’s openers have handled the pressure with composure and patience.

The crowd at DY Patil Stadium remains electric, cheering every boundary as India aim to lay a strong foundation in pursuit of their maiden Women’s World Cup title.
