South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first in the fifth T20I against India, citing expected dew conditions later in the evening.
Explaining the decision, South Africa captain Aiden Markram said the wicket looked like it could get dew later on, which would help the ball come on better under lights. He added that the focus remains on the World Cup, with several games lined up, and the side is keen to finish the tour on a positive note. Markram also confirmed a change in the playing XI, with George Linde coming in for Anrich Nortje.
India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said his side was looking to bat first, noting that the wicket appeared good for batting and that he did not expect significant dew. He added that the surface felt full and that India wanted to put runs on the board.
India have made major changes for the series decider, with Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar coming into the XI, while Shubman Gill misses out.
With both teams making tactical calls and changes ahead of the final game, the fifth T20I promises a competitive finish to the series.
