The India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 clash at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was temporarily halted after the 34th over of India’s innings due to a pest control issue on the field.
At INDW 154/4 (34), the players were asked to leave the ground so that officials could spray the outfield with bug repellent. Continuous rain in Colombo over the past few days has led to an increased presence of insects on the ground, disrupting play and affecting player concentration.
According to the broadcast update, it is a “pest control spray” operation, and the delay will last approximately 15 minutes. The time lost will be compensated by shortening the innings break — no overs will be lost.
The Indian side currently sits in a steady position, with Jemimah Rodrigues (28 off 33) and Deepti Sharma (2 off 4) at the crease. Fatima Sana and Rameen Shamim have been economical for Pakistan so far, keeping the scoring rate in check before this unexpected interruption.
As officials work to clear the field and ensure better playing conditions, fans hope for an uninterrupted continuation once play resumes.
